Roya is a member of the skilled, adaptable, professional team, strongly driven by their values, who make up 360 Engagement, a Barnsley-based social enterprise with a clear vision to bridge the gap between communities and services.

Roya specialises in community development work, building capacity within communities and supporting organisations to develop cultural competence.

She uses creative approaches like art therapy to build strong links in communities and give people confidence to engage with services.

Roya has a creative background in art and photography, is fluent in Farsi, Arabic and English, and has significant experience of working with people from different backgrounds, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds with complex needs.

She played a key role in developing the Barnsley BME Women and Children Forum over a number of years. The Forum supports BME women to participate actively in society in Barnsley, improving community cohesion and social inclusion and reducing isolation.

One of the key successes of the Forum was the links that Roya developed with services in Barnsley. She helped raise the profile of the Forum and encouraged services to engage and collaborate.

As well as her role in 360 Engagement, Roya works for Rotherham & Barnsley Mind and implements ideas on the NHS Delivering Race Equality agenda in Mental Health care.

Roya was appointed to the Board of Barnsley College as Governor in October 2010. She has served on the Audit Committee, Finance & Research Committee and currently on Governance and Research.
