Owner, Blush Photography:
“I’m 30 years old and a photographer. I have had my own photography business – Blush Photography – for over five years now.
“I set up my business with the help of the Prince’s Trust in 2008. At the time I was a single parent and I had put myself through college and university – where I completed A-Levels and a HND in Photography – whilst my son was still small.
“I just wanted a better life for my son and I had just left a job as I didn’t agree with their work ethics, so wanted to start a business of my own.
“It has been a long haul and I have spent many hours worrying about my business, but I’m still here after five years and I’m doing well.
“Last year, I decided to go back to college to top up my HND to a degree. This really tested me as it had been six years since I had been in a classroom and I had to keep my business going alongside some really tough deadlines. Like everything else though, I came through it and achieved a 2:1 in my BA Hons in Photography when I graduated in July!
“My hopes for the future are to continue to grow my business and eventually I would like to teach photography at an adult level, so I can encourage people at any age to get into photography!”
