Ashleigh currently works as a motivational speaker for  Claire Young’s ‘School Speakers’, a nationwide organisation. She was also Sir Alan Sugar’s BBC’s Young Apprentice winner in 2012:

“I grew up in and around Rotherham living with my mum, brother and step-dad (and my dog). I went to Wath Comprehensive School and have been in employment since the age of 13!

“I was never really an A grade student and decided once leaving school with 14 GCSE grade Cs and above that I was going down the Apprenticeship route and found myself working for a local accountant, studying my AAT qualification and at one point working four jobs at once!

“I then went on to work for Martin and Co, the UK’s Number One letting company. After this I had a life-changing opportunity to take part in the BBC1 show ‘Young Apprentice’. Only 12 candidates got selected out of the 28,000 that applied and I went on to win the show and was given a £25k investment from Lord Alan Sugar.

“I missed home turf while away filming in London but had the most amazing experience and met some amazing people, but couldn’t wait to get home as it was difficult for me to be away from my family.

“On coming ‘home’ I started a job with Courier Logistics, a vibrant, very well established and lively company, and then worked for Reeds Rains Estate Agents.

“I now predominantly work for Claire Young’s School Speakers, travelling around presenting motivational talks and workshops.

“In my free time(!) I like to go and see live music, go to the theatre, go out for drinks or watch CSI!

“I believe if you fail to prepare you should prepare to fail – and I believe being from South Yorkshire is a bloomin’ good advantage!

“I can be slightly crazy at times and I believe my employers, parents and friends would vouch for that! But I wouldn’t have it any other way, I imagine it’s boring being normal!

“Favourite film? Lilo & Stitch.”
